Music Therapy
MUSIC FOR ADULTS
Music therapy sessions are specifically designed to reach individual, and/or small group goals based on the specific needs of the client or group. These goals may include, but are not limited to:

Anxiety and stress reduction

Awareness of self, others, and environment

Increased sense of control over life through failure free activity.

Emotional intimacy with loved ones and families through shared music experiences

Memory recall, cognitive or processing abilities

Management of mood and emotional states

Non-pharmacological management of pain and discomfort

Structure which provides rhythmic and continuous movement as an adjunct to physical therapy

Structure which provides elements of the speech such as rhythm, pitch, stressed and unstressed syllables as an adjunct to speech therapy

Social interaction
The length of a session may depend upon the attention span or needs of the client. Sessions are a minimum of 30 minutes upwards to an hour. Sessions incorporating instruments such as the electronic keyboard or guitar may run longer than a typical music therapy session.
